Kacey N. Simmons

Associate Attorney

Kacey Simmons is an associate attorney at Barbieri Law Firm, where she focuses exclusively on criminal defense. She brings nearly a decade of advocacy experience to the firm, shaped through years of high-level national and regional mock-trial competition.

Kacey earned her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in May 2025, where she distinguished herself as one of the school's top advocates. She helped lead Texas Law to multiple national titles, including first-place finishes at the Georgetown White Collar Crime Invitational and the Martin Luther King Jr. National Civil Rights Trial Competition. She also advanced to the regional championship at the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition and earned numerous individual awards throughout her time on the advocacy circuit. In recognition of her achievements, Kacey received the 2025 Niemann Cup—awarded to the best overall advocate in the graduating class—and was inducted into the prestigious Order of Barristers.

Prior to law school, Kacey graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in Philosophy. At Texas A&M, she served as president of the university's mock-trial program for two consecutive years, leading teams competing across the nation and laying the foundation for her long-standing commitment to trial advocacy.

During law school, Kacey was deeply involved in the Women's Law Caucus, the Texas Law Aggie Society and the Board of Advocates, where she served as Mock Trial Director. She also participated in the Disability Rights Clinic, representing students in criminal and civil-rights matters related to their disabilities. Her professional experience includes internships with both the Collin County and Dallas County District Attorney's Offices, as well as a law-clerk position at Barbieri Law Firm, where she supported the team on complex and high-stakes criminal cases.

Kacey is licensed to practice law in Texas and is an active member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Texas Aggie Bar Association and the Dallas Young Lawyers Association. Known for her poise, strategic thinking and courtroom confidence, she now uses her trial-ready advocacy skills to defend individuals facing criminal charges across North Texas.
